Hmmm...life report...
Well, on Wednesday I went to Plant Sciences and ate peanuts and drank wine. On this occasion it was to support the first years who had put lots and lots of time and effort into posters for the poster competition. I walked around getting an odd feeling of deja vu (yeah, I know there are meant to be accents on that, but I can't remember where they go and getting the grave accent is more effort than it's worth!), as some topics pop up year after year, it seems (mostly the groups who basically lift the content of the poster from the lecture notes. Julian's groups from Emma did nice powerpoint posters, printed them out on giant A2 pieces of paper. Looked wonderful but must have been pricey.
Catz won a prize! I was very impressed, as we don't tend to win. But it was a beautiful poster, very professional. And the reference list was lovely. And it was on signalling in Mimosa pudica, the sensitive plant. Was impressed. The first years were intensely amused as I walked up to the poster in question and before even looking at the names/college, said, "That's one of Matt's supervisee's." But it was obvious, as Matt loves reference lists, abstracts, nicely labelled text boxes and a neatly ordered layout.
Today I went to Plant Sciences and ate sandwiches and crisps and peanuts and drank orange juice. And bounced to first years. And bounced to second years. And bounced to third years. Woohoo! We STILL haven't had out 3rd year application forms though. Will start yelling at DoS soon, as I want to put down Plant Sciences. Yay me for wanting a not-too-competitive course that I will probably get on if I apply! And additional bonus - no more Saturday lectures next year! (But there are 9ams...d'oh!)
Uli has been giving me droolsome bunnies involving nipple rings. [Poll #452172] *slurps*
Supervision today was cool - supervisor set us an exam-condition essay, but one of the waffly, vague, bringing-it-all-together ones. Which was useful because those are the kind where if you do have your notes you can easily get lost in all the details and lose your grip on the argument.
Tomorrow is Friday...wheeee...and hopefully my CD will arrive.
Hip behaving in faintly perculiar manner at the moment. No idea why. If you have any idea if I have done something recently that might have made it very mildy sore (emphasis on very mildly - hardly noticeable, really), answers on a postcard... I just can't think of anything I've done recently that would be out of the ordinary enough to give the occasional twinge. *wonders*
