1. Cheese is good. Whoever invented cheese was either very clever, or very lucky. My Bavarian MagicCheese is all gone now. Need to acquire some more...need a fruity, nutty, piquant hard Alpkäse.
2. Eating three quarters of a chocolate orange before dinner doesn't ruin your appetite, but does leave you feeling rather bloated after dinner.
3. One of my Drosophila died. They all look pretty androgynous for some reason, but I think it's a female. Most of them seem to be male, so I am hoping the other female is going to lay lots of eggs to compensate.
4. The lovely pot plant I bought at the start of term is still lovely, which is amazing cos I am normally quite adept at killing plants (though I did once keep an African Violet in flower for 9 months!).
5. I'm not making New Year's resolutions cos I don't normally even remember them, let alone keep them, after 2 weeks or so. I make little resolutions during the year, anyway.
6. Coxed yesterday, found that one part of the canal was half as wide as normal owing to the scaffolding there. Managed not to crash the boat. Almost brought the boat in for a perfect landing, but misjudged by about 6 inches so instead it was a bit undignified (we pulled ourselves in by sticking our fingers in the mud). On the plus side, this method meant the boat never got scratched against the wall.
7. Helped mother with Meals on Wheels. Luckily none of the old people had suffered commode accidents and we got through them all in an hour and a bit. The delivery route is funny cos it winds round all the dodgy backroads where the old people live, meaning that we'd emerge on to a main road I recognised from time to time and I'd be like, "How the heck did we manage to end up here...we were in Northenden a minute ago?!"
8. My money got donatified today. There are big numbers of people lost/missing/killed now...it's rather frightening.
9. 60 million people in the world have been infected with HIV since the virus was first discovered. That's like...the equivalent of the whole population of Britain.
10. I think I fancy another cup of coffee. I am getting through quite a lot today.
