Riding was fun. They put me on a horse that I'd never even heard of before, and neither had my mum. "Boris". He turned out to be a big, pretty chestnut. Easy to tack up, though he kept chewing my crop and giving me puppy eyes each time he dropped it on the floor and wanted it back. Easy horse to ride; difficult horse to ride well. He did the nice submission neck-bending thing with hardly any persuasion, but it turns out he's very responsive to the leg and a lot less responsive to the hands. And since the rider two places in front of me was going so slowly, keeping Boris' attention was a bit of a challenge. Too much leg and he went too fast; too little and he started dragging his feet and tripping himself up. Canters were a bit too fast until I got the hang of him, but were sooo comfortable.
He's probably the only horse in the riding school with tack that is all in flawless condition.
Am a bit achey today as we spent most of the lesson in sitting trot.
Also, I'm irrationally sleepy, which is a bit of an issue since I'm supposed to be awake at midnight to see the new year in with some friends. Might have to resort to ProPlus magic, I guess.
Anyway... I hope 2006 brings all your best dreams to all of you - may the coming year be happy, wonderful and fun!
