Presentation went fine (no one on LJ was there to see me give it, so no one can gainsay me!) - only missed out one or two things, finished between 9 and 10 minutes, which is spot-on. Stuck around for 2 presentations before mine and 4 presentations afterwards. Standard generally very high, research generally very interesting - was doubly glad I had such fantastic, supportive supervisors, though - some people weren't as lucky, so their projects, although yielding good findings, had a lot less *content* - when they spend 40% of the presentation just explaining how they made a reporter construct (= something that we learned about in 2nd year) you know that what they did might have been a lot of lab work, but conceptually was fairly routine stuff.
Met up with Wood Project supervisor from over summer - he wants me to pop in after exams to help his postdoc analyse my wood anatomy database. Only a few hours' work - and what's the point in my slaving away for 8 weeks if the end data is not of any use to anyone? And I owe him a favour as he just wrote me a reference! Hehe.
Have come to the conclusion that this last month has been the month of Computer Doom. Everyone seems to have computer troubles! It's quite frightening really, the way all the computers on earth seem to have packed in all at once! Mine is working OK at the moment but it is SO getting a memory upgrade after exams (a post-exam present to myself, I suppose you could say!).

tuxedo_elf. I think calling it "fanfiction" might be pushing the boundaries a bit - the only relation it's likely to have to Tolkien canon is that it has Elves in, and they essentially behave like Elves, and have Sindarin/Quenya types of names, and were I to explain the convoluted backstory it does, sooner or later, link in with Silmarillion. However, it threatens to be entirely OCs (which, considering the AU-ness, is probably good), gen and very fluffy. A version of one of those Disney teen movies where the geeky girl becomes prom queen, only with Elves, and hopefully a little more substance! Currently stands at 2000 words.
