Today there was Moo Cow Bee. This was because when I came in, there was a bee on a chip drinking, so I grabbed the paint to mark her. However, I grabbed the white paint and remembered as I started dibbling it on that I had a White Bee already. So I had to make this bee clearly distinguishable from White Bee. And so I...sort of put white dots all over her. Hence Moo Cow Bee.
Moo Cow Bee is a prissy princess, it seems. She decided that only the enriched feeding sugar I gave them overnight is good enough for her, and refused to touch the normal sugar solution I had baited the fake flowers with.
This is why I hate feeding them the concentrated, enriched feeding solution - in order for them to still want to deal with the scent-free solution we use during the tests, it has to be made absurdly concentrated, which is a pain in the backside and just makes them more demanding. But the feeding solution is meant to be better balanced. But since my bees are overfed and lazy, tonight they are getting dilute lab solution and nothing else.
Computery website stuff makes progress too. Tech support turned on Tomcat for me, so now the JSPs work. Yay! All I need to do now is work out how to upload the database files when I only have dodgy SSH access to the server they need to go on. I *think* I've worked it out. Will try tomorrow when I'm more intelligent.
I was very good today and took our flat's recycling to the recycling bank. There were 8 enormous bags full of stuff! This is largely because no one else ever takes the recycling. 2 of those bags were entirely my stuff I'd saved up in my room - the others were all everyone else's that had built up under the sink. I felt very eco-friendly when I put them all in the skip thing, anyway!
Finland stuff is exciting. Apparently if I don't mind a twin room, I get free hotel accommodation! It turns out my last-year supervisor has been coerced into presenting too, so I'm going to suggest to her that we double up. I'm also really thinking I will take an extra day in Helsinki at the end for sighteeing and return to the Tuomiokirkko (St Nicholas's Church), and visit the angels. The angels are either side of the altar (close-up) and gave me a MASSIVE bunny last time I saw them, and I am hoping that seeing them again will help me finish it well!
