It's been a really nice weekend!
On Saturday, I decided to investigate Chrisp Street Market. This is a sweet little market that's sitting almost at the foot of the Canary Wharf towers. Of course, with my track record so far, I was not remotely surprised to find that the DLR line that serves Chrisp Street Market directly was suspended this weekend for planned engineering works. Consequently I got off at a slightly-less-immediate stop and walked from there, which was fine and I didn't get lost.
Market was cute. I bought some things that looked like pinkish-red carrots but amusingly turned out to be radishes. Also bought Polish sourdough bread, which is exceptionally yummy. Oh, and another salwar kameez. This one has a bright pink top with greenish embroidery, and the trousers and dupatta are sort of turquoisey-teal coloured. Very bright and cheerful. Cotton, so will have to be careful what I wash it with the first few times! Only £12, hurrah!
Today, I went on a bumblebee walk. There's a Cemetary-Park near me (as in, it's a disused cemetery that is now kept as a park and wildlife conservation area) - I hadn't been there before but it's an absolute delight. They're managing it to control the ivy and sticky-willy, and planting proper native woodland-edge plants, including many that are bumblebee-friendly. They especially seem to adore the comfrey and red clover!
A bumblebee identification specialist from Essex came along to show us how to identify the different bees, and to our delight he spotted all 7 of the most common British species! We also - very excitingly - saw Bombus humilis - which is a rare one, so seeing it in a rather urban bit of East London was a lovely finding. Apparently the Thames Estuary is a bit of a hotspot for this species.
I took some photos of a couple of bees and some other insects...camera was being a pain again so a lot of the photos just didn't take, but I've cropped and uploaded the ones that seemed worth sharing.

I've had lots of fun!
