Overdue update
19 October 2007 21:57My EllJay has been sorely neglected as of late. But hey, so has most of my onlineness.
To summarise:
1. Am in a pretty good mood with my supervisor, which is always a nice way to end a week - he gave his blessing to an idea of collaborating with my AWESOME undergrad supervisor in Australia. This would be fantastic as we get on incredibly well, it'd get me some good results, and would be fun. So is a matter for futher investigation, methinks!
2. I bought something on eBay. For many of you, this will not be an event of note, but this was my first time! I am now the owner of a mediaeval ring (I hope - bought it tonight so obviously don't physically have it yet!). Yes, a mediaeval bronze ring. This is why I am not letting myself become an eBay addict. Because I would spend my ENTIRE LIFE buying silly things like that.
3. I owe loads of people loads of e-mails.
4. We've now gone for over a week without our sink becoming blocked. This is REALLY GOOD because we had horrendous problems with it at the end of September involving 0870 numbers, lots of caustic soda and plumbers coming 4 hours later! (Though gave me a chance to try my hand at dismantling a U-bend and using a plunger - why does no one tell you plungers don't work when the blockage is lower than the point where the washing machine drain joins the waste pipe as then the water is just forced back up there and out of the top and all over the kitchen?)
5. Rubisco continues to be amazing and cute. And has very varied tastes in food. So far the only things we've found that she doesn't eat are mooli radish and babycorn. She still won't use her wheel, and tends to get bored of the ball quickly as she'd much rather be able to run free, digging, climbing, chewing and sniffing. She's a compulsive cage-chewer like nothing on earth, but this can be solved by pushing folded paper through the bars as she prefers to chew that as long as it's in the right place. She's currently demolishing 3-4 sheets of paper a day.
This weekend I'm going to investigate Sainsbury's - they've been shut for over a week for essential refurbishment, so are now reopened, shinier, bigger and with more exciting things than ever before. Hurrah! (Including a fish counter - which is good as I'm on a fish kick at the moment.)
