Thanksgiving
23 November 2007 00:26Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!
I was inducted into Thanksgiving today by flatmate and her friend.
They made enough food to feed 20 people - literally - and there were a mere 6 of us. We ate around 30% of the sweet potato soup, half the corn casserole thing, half the beans, half the salad, a quarter of the cranberry sauce, a quarter of the stuffing and half the turkey. We have so much leftover food we've had to use the downstairs loo as a pantry. Was yummy though (though not my normal preferences in food - the stuffing was far more salty than I prefer, but the beans and salad were lovely and the turkey was very tender - as Rubisco will also attest).
Flatmate also bought a full pint of whipping cream (half-and-half) - I got nice and tipsy and then persuaded them all to humour me and let me whip the leftovers into butter. So the freezer now contains a block of homemade butter, albeit slightly sweetened vanilla butter - it'll be good in flapjacks!
Since if I went into work tomorrow I'd get a grand total of 2 hours' work done before being hauled off to the silly re-induction thing anyway, I will be working from home tomorrow morning, and therefore plan to take things easy and go in for 12pm, i.e. when re-induction starts. This also means I don't need to worry about finding my cereal bowl amongst the wreckage tomorrow morning - every serving vessel and item of cutlery has been coopted into serving food tonight!
