After the nice librarian girl had to go over and calm down an argument between a bunch of Young Persons who were using the F-word quite liberally...
Young Person 1: I'm going to kick the sh*t out of him, man.
Young Person 2: Not in here, man! It's a library - you gotta have respect for the other people, innit?
I did wonder if this counts as one of those "only in Tower Hamlets" moments.
As I was looking for some new fantasy novels to read (didn't find anything that appealed), I was "chatted up" by some more Young Persons, who admitted they didn't really read books, grabbed random ones off the shelves and asked me if I wanted to read them or whether they should read them, and then asked me various questions about myself. They were moderately amusing and seemed harmless enough, but I'm unconvinced that a library is the best kind of pulling-ground for likeminded individuals if you're not into books, but whatever...
Altogether, a slightly surreal trip to the library.
I now need to put in another Interlibrary Loan request, this time for book 5 in the Raven series by James Barclay: Shadowfall. I am officially a James Barclay addict. I have some criticisms of his writing, but I just love the characters and their interactions so very, very much. *happy squee*
