Things I am learning:
The pub across the road shuts at about 11pm Sundays/weekday nights so is not noisy when I want to sleep before work. Win.
The lettings agency have already sent my details to the water company so I don't need to do anything except wait for a bill in October. Win.
Ran into my lettings agent in the bank and he's going to talk to the landlord about getting me that mortise key. Win.
Chatham is weeeeeirdly dead...all the time really. You'd think Wilko's on a Sunday afternoon would be pretty busy. It isn't. You'd think the giant Tesco would be chaotic at 6:30pm on a Monday (especially when it closes at 8pm). Basically, everyone seems to go to the pubs and the bank, where there was a huge queue, and that's about it!
The shop assistants are all nice and pleasant, which is nice.
And no one else seems to understand the one-way system in the town centre either - I keep seeing vans going the "wrong" way up it as we understood it. Maybe it only applies during working hours? I don't know.
For an electric cooker, mine isn't bad at all. The oven/grill is also good.
My next job is to 1. find a place that sells microwaves and mattress protectors cheaply, as the Tesco, despite being huge in spatial area, is small in stock and 2. persuade BT that I don't need an engineer to fit a phoneline as there's a phone socket in my living room already, kthxbai.
Thesis corrections proceeding well. Done the easy bits for the first 2.5 chapters now.
