enismirdal: (tardigrade)

After the inauspicious beginning to today, i.e. throwing a not insubstantial quantity of coffee down myself, and nearly falling asleep in all three lectures so often it was painful, I have fortified myself with caffeine and was even motivated to haul myself all the way to Plant Sciences to find out about plant action potentials. I am now considerably enlightened in this tantalising matter :-\

Last night we had our own alternative Valentine's Day, which was amazing. We got ourselves a Tablefortwo in the Bella Pasta and had yummy pasta food with yummy garlic ciabatta. And Kate decided we needed a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, my brain (and good sense) responded to said wine by conveniently disengaging from my body, and thence went for a walk around the room, whilst the rest of me was left to pretend to carry on intelligent conversation. Feet, meanwhile, were petitioning me for independence, which did not facilitate walking, and hands had become oddly numb at the tips. I'd never been that tipsy/drunk before...it was highly unnerving.

Then there was chocolate cake, Kate's ice-cream (which sobered me up marginally) and then home in a giggly and wobbly manner. All I can say is I was glad I was wearing Docs and not heels, or I'd have fallen into the Cam for sure.

*pouts* No more fic to post. Oh well, there's one at the canon-beta's as I type. Yay! Eluréd/Elurín seems to be monopolising my attentions at the moment.

PS [livejournal.com profile] tienelle - thank you most kindly for returning it :)

snerk. That's very drunk for a half share in a a bottle of wine...

You really don't want to experience being more drunk than that, trust me, it's not fun.

Valentines was fun (actually... great wouldbe a better description... best valentines ever), but you are such a total light weight, teribly sweet!Thereis no way you actually had half the bottle... More like a third, or just a little over. How do you copeat formal when it is a bottle each... oh yeah, you don't tend to go to them/ I hope you realise thought that I am going to drag you there on Friday (pretty, pretty please!!!)

See you later sweetie.

i think action potentials are scary. sounds too much like physics.
what is the friendly creature on your usericon?

It's a tardigrade :) They're about 3mm long and live in moss, and are some of the closest living relatives of arthropods and you can dry them out for 10 years and they'll still come back to life. There are 2 links to sites about them on my userinfo page.

[livejournal.com profile] anuanu decided they looked like gummy-bears and made an icon where he ate one :) Bless!

I like your and [livejournal.com profile] compilerbitch's cute scribbly ones as well :)

ah! i remember on the 1B ecology fieldtrip 1998 one girl did a project on the diversity and distribution of tardigrades in moss in relation to pollution. a very interesting project it was too, apart from the fact that she accidently failed to find any tardigrades.. *rollseyes*
