I seem to have failed to update for lots of time.

Things that happened:

- There was a cocktail party. More under cut...
- I went to Cambridge and came back with a Soul, and also saw [livejournal.com profile] ilanin, [livejournal.com profile] edith_the_hutt and bought my brother 2 beers
- I went into the lab on Sunday and got a bee's worth of data
- I got two bees done on Monday and another one on Tuesday
- I had the admin department reject my order for a sheet of diffuser cos it wasn't expensive enough, so had to order it over the phone myself
- When the sheet arrived today, it was not, as the website claimed, 7.5m by 1.52m, but more like 1.2m by 0.55m. Was NOT impressed and will yell at them on phone tomorrow (as my ears seem to be returning to normal now)
- Submitted my 4 month report within the deadline and it should be reasonable as my supervisor read it through and did a rather extensive beta-job on it!

So, we had a cocktail party. I wore a wee black dress and looked actually pretty presentable for once. When I acquired a top hat to pose with, things got better!

I had a Mohito, decided these were boring, so invented a new cocktail with a dash of gin, lots of apple juice and some cinnamon and/or nutmeg. This was rather quaffable. Then had a glass Bailey's with ice and got a vague urge to kiss someone, though didn't. Though the cute blonde PhD student from the fifth floor was being hot...

I had to go to bed early because I needed to get a coach the following morning, so left about 1-ish. Apparently things then got exciting, as flatmate #1 drank nearly a pint of Bailey's, and flatmate #2 has a 3-hour gap in her memory... Flatmate #1 basically couldn't eat for 3 days afterwards, which is scary. And so that's why it's a bad idea to start with margaritas and finish with about 8 units of Bailey's...

Flatmate #1 had her 4 month report due in at the same time as I had mine due in. Unfortunately, whereas I've been adding bits to mine for about 3 of the 4 months, she started hers...on Friday last week. But with the weekend hangover of doom she sort of didn't get much done until Tuesday, then has worked almost constantly since then in order to finish it. Which is also scary, and even scarier as the other PhD student in my lab hasn't submitted his yet because his bees were foraging and he simply decided to prioritise data...

Talked to supervisor about the bee data from this week and he was all, "Oh, great! Wouldn't it be interesting to train some bees under entirely green light and then see how they react to patchy light?" And I was all, "Yes! That's exactly what I was planning to start this afternoon!" Which I would have except I ran out of Green, so need to buy more tomorrow. Also more tracing paper (which works as a surprisingly good UV-attenuator).

Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ilye_elf and [livejournal.com profile] daeomae!!
