This may have something to do with:
1. Living next to a trainline, so the house gives a low-level shake every 15-30 minutes anyway.
2. Having a heavy footed flatmate in the room above who can make the whole house shake by crossing the room.
3. Retraining my brain to block out the noise of a hyperactive baby hamster running at what looked like at least 50mph on her wheel!1

It's actually almost disappointing. I like our puny British earthquakes - as long as you're not that poor guy who had his roof fall on him and break his pelvis, which was sad, or someone who sustained structural damage to their home, they're really kind of fun/exciting.

I'm reading back through my Flist as I'm writing this. The posts directly after the event are really funny! :D

In other news, I am helping with an undergraduate practical at Kew tomorrow, so have an excuse to swan around the gardens taking photos, eating Maids of Honour and not worrying too much about work (which currently, really scarily, involves looking at some DNA sequences). Wheeee!

And I get to see [livejournal.com profile] tuxedo_elf and [livejournal.com profile] luin77 and my one-dog fan club at the weekend. YAY! :D :D

1When I cleaned them out last night, I gave Rubisco's wheel, which she has never voluntarily used, to the babies. Their original one was too stiff - they're so tiny they didn't have the weight to make it turn, but Rubisco's is looser so now they can run run run run run.

Ah... the memories of being kept awake by my sister's hamster trundling around in her wheel...

Did I miss baby Hamster piccies or did I forget to demand them in an annoying, whining tone?
