I've had the most amazing week - wow! Just wow. And got back to find I had 54 unread e-mails (of which 12, I admit, appear to be junk and 7 are Xanga notifications, but still, that's a LOT of mail to have to deal with). I never want to be without my PC again!!! *sulks*

So, summary of the week:

Wednesday 7th - long drive, but was fun, as Laura stopped lots and we didn't rush. My navigating left something to be desired, but what the hey!! Went to pub, which was fun.

Thursday - mud. Lots of mud. Of the lose-a-welly sinky variety. Tides were not as low as they should have been, so a causeway which should have been above water was actually submerged shin-deep. Was wet and cold.

Friday - more mud. And more mud. Sticky. Icky. Also worms. Did you know there were twelve-inch annelid worms on the Welsh coast? They're BIG. But there were also millions and millions of little worms that all looked pretty much the same, but we had to identify all the species, and they all smelled like fish and...ewwwwwww. Also found a one of these (although not of the Canadian Arctic variety as shown there), which was kind of cool.

Saturday - ponds. Dead newts. Stinky. Also sand dunes, snails, etc.

Sunday - Cambridge has got to be the freakiest university ever. We went to the beach on Easter Day.
We went to the beach on Easter Day and looked at periwinkles. And barnacles. And limpets. We did a transect survey of the rocks.
On the plus side, we were given lots of choklit and got to do an Easter Egg hunt - fun!

Monday - I spent the day measuring thorns on hawthorn and blackthorn. We were doing a project: has browsing of inland bushes by deer resulted in them evolving more thorns than coastal bushes to protect them? Or something to that effect. Answer: possibly. It involved measuring large numbers of thorns on the coast and inlad. Also, sitting around on sunny beaches talking about random stuff :)

Tuesday - got my hands on a computer and read slash. Did not get caught. Also, did not have internet access, so was not totally appeased. Finished project. Went to beach - beach party! We had the whole beach to ourselves; it was gorgeous!!! Then went to pub. Got mildly tipsy, played Never Have I Ever.

I discovered I had to drink a lot more this time than I did last time I played that game ;)

Wednesday - like Monday, only with more stops. Bought Welsh Honey. Navigation seems to be improving :)

But the atmosphere of camaraderie (sp?) was amazing - everyone got on so well. The people I knew before Orielton, I now know better, and I really like them all. The people I didn't meet before the trip, I also like lots. And also, one of our field course organiser/demonstrator people is sooooooooo cute and adorable.

I missed...
1. Girly
2. Internet
3. LJ (all the people on my Friends List!!)
4. Showers which were the temperature I decide, not a random temperature they decide (often wither scalding or freezing)
5. Earl Grey tea
6. Guinea pigs
7. Puddings which weren't stodgy sponge
8. Excessive amounts of vegetables with meals
9. Getting up at 9am
10. Being able to go to bed at 1am owing to being not knackered...

OK, that's enough of the things I missed, I think.

Anyway, in spite of the moans, I had an excellent time, and I intend to keep in touch with as many people as possible from the trip. :)

Also, got back to find LoM had updated. Despite its having archived Underestimated under "Rúmil/Figwit" when it's Rúmil/Faelon (*chuckles in intense amusement*), it appears people have actually read it - I got FB from people who weren't either a beta, a personal RL friends, or both, yay! And it was nice FB too :) So I went all juvenile and barrelled round the house squeeing. :D All I need now is a really good flame and my life will be complete, hehehe.

OK, that's enough postness for a while. Kisses to all of ya!!

How did you manage to read slash on a random computer without 'net access? Is it just a special talent of yours to locate slash wherever you may be?

lol! I filled a floppy disk full of slash before I left, and shoved it in the suitcase. (OK, there was a sign on the wall of the computer room saying "Please DO NOT use your own disks in our computers, to avoid getting our computers infected with viruses," but since it was a brand new disk I decided there was about as much chance of it having a virus as one of their own disks having a virus, so thought, "Screw them," and did it anyway. Needless to say, the world did not end and their computers did not explode, so I think I got away with it.)
