2 ducks have moved in on Main Court. This is bizarre, as Catz Main Court patently does not contain a pond, or anything resembling one. They're extremely cute and waddle across the the Fellows' Lawn, which if we stepped on would result in much DOOM of the end-of-our-university-careers variety. They eat the grass on the Fellows' Lawn too.
I got a virus in my Lycos account today. I often get viruses in my Hotmail, and when we had the 'blitz', I had them in my university account as well. But my Lycos has never before been hit. It was one of those, "Mail Delivery Failed, Returning to Sender" mails with a message that your mail had a virus attachment so they're not going to deliver it. Since my Lycos has been unable to send mail for the best part of 4 months, and ****ing Lycos won't answer my error reports and support requests, it couldn't have possibly been 'me', i.e. my account sending the virus. Netsky already likes faking my Hotmail address, so if it starts faking my Lycos as well, this will be a pain in the ass and I will squawk lots.
Yay! Chocolate Easter Rolls down to 70p in Sainsbury's!! Cheap dssert!! *bounces up and down*

Date: 29 Apr 2004 12:41 (UTC)1. Ducks do not need a pond. They might prefer one for bathing and some animal foodstuffs, but mainly they like the protection against foxes and birds of prey, which I imagine is amply provided by the human presence.
2. Ducks do not eat significant amounts of grass (though they do sometimes tear a few mouthfuls off). They're mainly carnivorous, and looking for worms.
Also, awww sweet. You probably know why the Emmanuel ducks are (allegedly) allowed to walk on the Fellows' grass.
Sorry for unsolicited informing :)

Date: 29 Apr 2004 14:25 (UTC)It just seems odd that with all the water in Cambridge, they'd choose somewhere without it. I mean, they're so...ungainly...on land, it looks a bit silly :) If they're happy, that's great, and they seem happy.
I haven't heard about the Emmanuel ducks, but would love to be enlightened - sounds like a tale worth knowing!! :)
