Moaning...in German for some obscure reason which I forget.

Heute ist nass und kalt. Heute hat mein Bruder eine wunderschöne Idee gehabt. Er hat gesagt, "Ich will heute die Ente füttern." Und ich dummkopf hat geantwortet, "Ja, das ist eine gute Idee."

Der Teich, wo die Enten leben, ist ungefähr 40 Minuten zu Fuss. Es hat viel geregnet. Alles war nass und sehr, sehr schlammig. Und ich hat eine hellvioletten Hose getragt. Ich war naturlich nicht besonders fröhlich. Meine Hose ist nicht mehr hellviolett. Es ist jetz graubraun.

There, aren't I just amazing? The sum total of my linguistic talent. *cynical snort* German is a wonderful language to use when you want to express displeasure. I don't know why, but it is.

I have discovered that roast pheasant is one of the most gorgeous meals. If the pheasant's not that young, it can be rather tough, but the flavour...humanahumanah!

I'm going home in 3 days! *does a little dance* My cute little room with big Legolas by the door, big Beleriand above the bed, big Middle-earth above the computer and a bizarre cotton contraption to hang various muse-inspiring pictures on the wall without the use of forbidden blu-tac.

The most terrifying thing is that even though I haven't done any German since GCSE, I can still read that.

I also used to write rants in German.

If someone else can read it, at least that means it's not total rubbish, thank god!
I'm just appalled at how much I've forgotten in about 6 months. Once upon a time I used to be able to watch German kids' TV and follow about half of it ;-) (The embarrasing thing was, I was becoming quite a fan of Der Kleine Vampir!)
