Birthday shoutout for the lovely Melpomaen - technically it's not your birthday any more over here, but since it still is where you are, I think I've got away with being disorganised and late.
I am, in fact, alive. I am also settling nicely into my new flat in Cambridge. It's lovely and spacious and my flatmates, although I don't know them well, seem pretty nice. My main problems with the flat are:
1. grottiness of the windows
2. lack of mirrors in rooms (suggesting interior designer was either male or less narcissistic than me!)
3. lack of a bin in the second bathroom (ditto on the gender of the interior designer - think about it)
4. general griminess and oldness of second bathroom and, to a lesser extent, first one
5. insufficient wall for the number of posters, pinboards and other items that I wish to hang up
6. lack of washbasin in room
Of these issues, 2 and 3 can be solved by spending money on acquiring said items. 4 might be helped by Eni + rubber gloves + thick bleach. 5 might be improved by talking to maintance men.
Have met nanette - he is cute but quiet. I like him, anyway. Also briefly said hi to
refractions.
hermeneut_me - I imagine we'll run into each other at some point. Would like to meet you and say hiya :)
Well, after nearly 4 hours of travelling, we got to Cambridge (there was 1 accident on the M6 and 2 on the A14! One even had the air ambulance in!). Unloaded, popped of to Tesco. Parents filled me up with lots of food and essential supplies - excellent! Then PARTY TIME!
Rivendell
Was excellent - relatively few people, but those there were mostly LJers, actually. Got to see several people I have missed over summer. Much chatter, innuendo, laughter, and I appropriated every stuffed toy in the house - go me! Dried cranberries are yummy. Got to talk about conventions, people at conventions, and enjoy the general company of great people. Earworm of the day: The Internet is for Porn! Enjoyed self immensely.
Becky's party
Was also excellent. More people, many LJers again. A lot of conversations that began something like, "Oh, so you're
lark_ascending/
pseudomonas/other!!!!!" I like doing that :) Much foodness; have developed a disturbing addiction to Pringle dippers and Mexican dip. Becky lent me a most GORGEOUS dress - gothy meringue. Very pretty, but had to be careful not to let anyone step on the hem as it was all long. I also had to be wary of leaning forward and was glad my bra was black! Was muchly impressed by costumes - everything from kenders to lemons, Xenas to drag of various forms. Enjoyed self immensely here as well.
Computer keeps threatening to die - am worried. Will be making backups and switching drive D to being the primary hard drive in the not-too-distant future.
In the meantime, I think I have finally optimised the furniture layout in this room for my personal preferences.
Have socialised muchly. Am tired now.

There's insufficient wall in that Octagon room? How much stuff do you wish to hang up? Or is it just stuff in the way of wall?
Welcome to your new Flat ^^ Don't fall for the Chads syndrome that some tutors suspect exists :p
