Oh yes I agree, Diane is really cool and funny! And husband Peter Morwood too! I remember Peter doing an impression of a chinook helicopter whilst in a restaurant once... Well, it stopped the conversation in the rest of the restaurant pretty quick :-)
You've met them? *seethes with jealousy* :)Oh...they live in Belfast, right? Not too far from you?
I am simply in love with their writing, both of them. I am slowly scouring charity shops for all the out of print titles. *is proud to have the whole Horse Lord series now*
No, they live in Co Wicklow, at the last sighting. I haven't seen them for a while, but I was very involved in SF and Star Trek fandom and onventions in the early '90's, and they were both very supportive. They will be probably be at the Irish SF convention Octocon this month.
Oh, and Peter makes a mean chilli, and I adore their hot chocolate. Do you like the 'Prince Ivan' series? If so I will try to find and scan a pic of Peter and Diane with my friend in a masquerade costume I made based on Maria Morevna! Peter read the blurb I wrote to go with the costume at the competition - with a Russian accent!
Oh, I loved the Prince Ivan series (was secretly in love with the three brothers, Fenik, Vasya and Misha...) Costume photos would be great; Marya Morevna was such a good character.
Were the stories based on genuine Russian Fairytales? I'm sure I was read some of them at the time - reading the books, I just kept thinking, "I am certain this story is familiar to me."
