Breadfish!
22 October 2004 18:36Observed maintenancy types circling the building earlier, staring at the walls. This is undoubtedly a good thing, as I am quite sure the wall near the main bathroom will need a complete new damp-proof course laying in a matter of months. Something is wrong with the 3rd floor loo flush overflow that means it drips permanently (you know the Chinese Water Torture? I am now officially immune to it as a result of this overflow...), and it must have been like this for some time as there is a whole mini-ecosystem of bog-loving plants setting up home at the base of the wall.
I suppose it is wise to put in a warning at this point: if I seem grumpy or upset in the next few days, unless I have an actual valid reason, please ignore me. It's the progesterone in my butt making me act up, nothing more. My blood pressure came out as 115/68. I swear, it's wrong! My diastolic pressure is definitely more than 68! I think it's my puny arms messing things up; the machine gave error messages twice before producing a figure.
My copy of The Immune System by Parham has arrived at Borders. Will collect tomorrow. Leaving house tonight sounds too much like effort.
Oh, an electrician finally came to fix the light in the hall! Instead of a feeble twitchy flicker, we now have a warm yellowy-white glow. Estupendo!
