Lycos has upgraded my e-mail inbox to 300MB. How nice of them.

But they still spell 'successful' as 'successfull' in the installation instructions.

How quaint.

EDIT: Even better, my Lycos account has finally decided to let me send mails from it again, for the first time in at least 6 months. Wooh! I now have a working additional e-mail address that I don't really need!

EDIT2: Even better, my Hotmail account has finally been upgraded after months of waiting. I now have an indecent amount of inbox space, and I don't even have G-mail!

EDIT3: And I fixed my website, without having to bribe my brother, and I don't know any PHP. Realised my .cjb.net domain had stopped working, so had to reactivate it, and in the meantime realised it linked to a members.tripod.co.uk thingy, not a members.lycos.co.uk thingy. It seems that Tripod have decided to stop making .tripod.co.uk URLs work. Once I changed that in the PHP, everything was fine and dandy!

When I get to edit my LJ over 3 good news items, it has to be a good thing, right?

Funny. My friend Mele just sent me a Nightwish song..."Two for Tragedy" I'm not familiar with the band, but she's totally obsessed with them. I thought it was just a German thing.
*winks*
I'll see what else I can download from them. Any recommendations?

Woohoo! Another person converted to Nightwish! Their more recent stuff is generally better. Two For Tragedy is lovely; can also recommend:
Wishmaster
Over the Hills and Far Away
Ghost Love Score
Creek Mary's Blood
Wish I Had an Angel
The Kinslayer
She is my Sin

And for more recs...poke Tux! She loves 'em, possibly even more than I do!

Yay for Nightwish. :-D

I actually prefer their older stuff, but any Nightwish is good.
Will second 'Wishmaster' and 'The Kinslayer', but 'Dead Boy's Poem', 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Beauty of the Beast' are still my favourites.

Ooh, I've got 2 different versions of Beauty and the Beast, but none of Beauty of the Beast. Need to get it now! Yeah, Dead Boy's Poem is very sweet and sad and moving.

Two versions? Argh, I only have the one on 'Angels Fall First'... Where's the other one from?
I could send you 'Beauty of the Beast' over MSN... Do you not have 'Century Child'? Because 'Ocean Soul' on there is one good song indeed... :-)

There's the live version on the album Over The Hills And Far Away (I LOVE that album!)...it's pretty good.

Ooh, that'd be lovely, thanks! Are you on now?

O_o I feel cheated. I don't have the live version on my copy of 'Over The Hills And Far Away'...

Will sign on now. Just a sec.

Hotmail is so exciting, I have never seen it say that the inbox was only 1% full.

3 good news edits are indeed a wonderful thing

If I may be forgiven for asking such a dumb question...

What sort of music is Nightwish? Can anyone tell me of any bands they sound vaguely similar to?

If I had to descibe it, I'd say power metal with operatic female vocals, though their later stuff is more symphonic.
They're a bit like later Therion, or more romantic After Forever and Tristania if that helps at all...
They've been compared to Evanescence, but mostly because they have a female vocalist. I don't see much else in common between the two...

They read out some extracts from LOTR in Elvenpath, which is nifty, if you ask me.

*kicks LJ for not sending comment e-mail*

Did you want GMail, Eni? I have an invite if you want one.

Still waiting for the hotmail upgrade. They really do take a long time.

I think I'm OK thanks. I seem to have some utterly illogical and inexplicable aversion to g-mail, possibly a knee-jerk reaction to an account as big as our hard drive was not so many years ago.

I think I have more inbox space than I could use in a million years now!
