26 November 2004 23:29Flatmate performing in a concert in Chapel today. Went along cos he seemed to want me too.
I don't think I have the same affinity for music as most of the other people there. Concerts are funny things - it's distinctly hard to tell whether the people slumped in their seats with their eyes closed and a blissful, peaceful expression on their faces are feeling the music on an intense level or just taking a nap.
The organ took a bit of a pounding last night (St Cathe/arine's Day and Commemoration of Founder and Benefactors' Dinner, which I did not attend, having as a I do an extreme aversion to formal events and communal drinking vessels) and so one of the keys apparently was sticking. I didn't hear this, but I did hear something from the organ during the quiet bits that sounded vaguely like a hydraulic foot-pump. Most intriguing.
Everyone said the concert was awsome. Although I wouldn't describe it as 'brain-stretching' as one man did, and didn't end up in tears, I certainly enjoyed it. The most notable effect it had on me, and probably the most accurate measure of how good it really was from my POV was that it woke up my muses! Maglor has barely spoken to me for months, and tonight he basically told me exactly how to finish the Maglor/Daeron fic. And Erestor, who I've spent all day trying to talk into falling for Elf 1, finally co-operated during the second or so piece. So YAY! Thus, this evening is dedicated to writing.
Found flatmate at free drinks party afterwards and congratulated him, met his parents (who are lovely). Nibbled crisps, had a glass of wine.
Girly came in with her gorgeous new dress, which is perfect for all her curves and she actually looks stunning in it. She bounced lots, which is always fun. We hugged each other excessively, as per usual, and I took photos but the camera decided my room was too dark so they came out badly. D'oh.
