Ooooh, that was a nice Foreyule Feast! Lots of nice people were there, and also nice mulled wine and ale. And food. And the famous delicious mushroom soup (which may well be famous and delicious owing to the quantity of butter in it, but I am happy with it that way!). Met some new people, including some 'tourists' - apparently one person on the interested list for the Society brought all his friends along and so there were a load of costumed randoms there. Which was all very well and good until one was rude to [livejournal.com profile] emperor.

Highlights of the evening included lots of silliness and kissing. [livejournal.com profile] rochvelleth kissed [livejournal.com profile] atreic, [livejournal.com profile] rochvelleth kissed [livejournal.com profile] megamole, [livejournal.com profile] enismirdal kissed [livejournal.com profile] beckyc, [livejournal.com profile] edith_the_hutt kissed [livejournal.com profile] enismirdal, [livejournal.com profile] edith_the_hutt kissed [livejournal.com profile] cartesiandaemon. Oh, and All The Usual CouplesTM kissed, but that's no surprise :D I think the average sobriety level was low! I think I also talked about slash, sex and variants of for much of the evening, but I blame [livejournal.com profile] megamole for encouraging me. At one point I was sitting with him hugging/leaning on my leg, though I do not really know how that came about.

We were trying to get the 4 Matthews present to pose for a Matthew pic, but I do not know if it worked. Oh, and if any of [livejournal.com profile] edith_the_hutt's pics of me are fit for human viewing, I will show around. I know there was at least one of me eating lettuce, and another of me and mushroom soup, so we'll have to see.

Hmm, so soup, turkey, gammon, broccoli, carrots, salad, gravy, baked potato (+more butter), yule log, Christmas pudding and drinks later, everything was great. Was very susprised to see some random guy (what's his name, someone?) who I'd seen waaay back in August at the Fellowship Festival. Was nice though. It's good seeing people again.

We went through a mammoth number of teatowels drying up the dishes after people started washing up. I think 'teatowel' can become word of the week. Yay teatowels!

And the best news for you guys...I copied out The Periodic Table of the Elves! Everyone squee!

These aren't the only one of which the word has come from Arda
but we could not include them all; that would have been much harder!

Footnotes:
The version in the official songbook seems to use the accute accent as a decorative device with no actual bearing on the spelling or pronunciation of the names. I noticed this especially when they spelt my boys Élured and Élurin respectively, which resulted in loud shrieking noises from my corner (I have no problem with missed accents in an informal context, but if you use them, you may as well use them properly, you know?). So I've started from scratch and looked up the ones I wasn't sure of. I may have missed a few so if you see any, do say. I'd like to have a nice neat hard copy for posterity.

Matthew (W) says that the accents in Eluréd and Elurín are quite unusually placed, but this formation was common in Doriath. I thought that was cool :)

Oh, and all names in the list are bona fide Tolkien - did check when I typed up.

Awww, I guess Elladan just didn't fit with the rhyme scheme :( Poor baby. There's no Fin and Tor either.

Not seeing Elrond, Elros, or Erienion (sp?) either. *sulks on behalf of her fellow brunettes*

It's allmost all Sillmarillion names though, except where the rhyme scheme demands it. Certainly neither Erienion nor Gilgalad would fit into the rythem.
