Cancelled lecture. Lots of advance notice.

They cancelled today's Path lecture.

I got up at a non-stupid time. I got myself ready, had breakfast, left the flat at the usual time (one which enables me to be on time to the lecture if I run, late if I walk), and got to the Chemistry Department where the lecture was to be. Bought myself coffee from the machine. Walked in to realise this was not Dr Melville (sp?) the lecturer it was meant to be, but the course organiser, telling us that today's lecture (and also Monday's) was cancelled. (Lecturer ill and still expecting to be ill on Monday - ironic when she would be talking to use about nasty diseases, really.)

It's nice to be free all day, but...

Why didn't they e-mail us all last night? Or even this morning? Enough of us would have checked mail this morning to let the others know we had the day off! I appear, therefore, to have walked 2 miles today in order to buy coffee machine coffee. So I said the F-word a few times to make me feel appeased, and hung out with l_j_b and cobalt_skye. Well, on the plus side it was good exercise. :)

Yep. When you guys stopped, we stopped having practicals. Basically, we're going over the same stuff - cancer, HIV, flu, only they are getting the guys who research this kind of stuff to teach it, and going into more of the molecular detail, mostly.

So I will still be having supervisions with him next term... *fumes* Unless I can kick up enough of a fuss that I get someone else.

I think I ought to remind you of the apparent traditional procedure for cancelling lectures in Materials Science (this is "the lecturer doesn't turn up. When the class manages to contact him 15-30 minutes later, it transpires he'd forgotten all about it") and tell you that you don't know what "lack of notice" is....
