A fuse has blown, so all the strip lights in the building are down (fortunately my room light appears to be on a different ring). On top of which, they're testing fire alarms, so every couple of minutes there's a, "Whoooo-whoooo-whoooo!" Overall, this building is not the most pleasant of places to be. So that's why I have Said and Done at moderately high volume.

QB...*snicker*...the trouble with knowing someone mainly online is that you forget what they look like after a while. So I ended up sending a Chinese whisper down the lecture hall, "Could you ask the guy in the black t-shirt if his name is Emperor?" They must have thought I was an absolutely loony. Fortunately, it was [livejournal.com profile] emperor so I could deliver requested lecture notes, heheheh!

It's odd. Ricicles don't taste as gorgeous these days as they did when I was a kid. Grrr.

Oh, and yesterday I took the liberty of mulling myself a whole bottle of Piesporter for rainy evenings :)

The fire alarms went off in the dorms almost constantly for one term every year. It was when the freshman (first year?) students were doing physics labs that involved soldering irons.

Nobody reacted to the fire alarms. A lot of people disabled them. If there was ever a fire, I think only a few people would get out.

Yeah, we were warned they'd be doing tests and were told to ignore them. If there's a real emergency during the hours of testing, we 'will be informed'.

How they intend to do that, I do not know. I can just imagine a knock on my door, "There's a fire, you need to evacuate!" when I already knew there was a fire because of the flames flickering all round my room...

Every once in a while our RA for the house would rush through the halls telling everybody to enable/connect their fire alarms because they were being tested. We got dinged for fire and safety violations if too many did not work. There's no way we'd pass if we didn't have a little warning.

LOL! But what's an RA?

RA = Resident Associate/Advisor. It was usually a graduate student (does that even mean anything here?). It was sort of a house mom/dad but not quite that old or that much authority. More for advice than anything but a little responsibility too.

I haven't eaten Ricicles in *ages*. Possibly I shouldn't, so they still taste nice in my memory.
