Manchester is less cold than Cambridge, possibly because of the thick cloud-blanket here.
I now know why I was feeling Christmassy in Cambridge, for the first time in about 5 years. Cambridge Christmas lights are pretty. Manchester/Sale Chrismas lights involve large parti-coloured flashing, waving Santas and are downright tacky.
Guinea pigs are good and sweet.
Computer being set up, but Dad seems to have taken over my bedroom with prehistoric computer stuff, including a green-on-black screen monstrosity that takes 5 and a quarter inch floppies and a printer that I swear I could probably live in if they hollowed it out.
My brother's greeting to my parents was, "Hello, did you forget to collect Le Leprechaun1?"
Parents: "No, sorry."
Brother: "Too bad, I was hoping you'd left her there."
This is following his last e-mail:
"I would like you to not come home, if that's possible, but since it probably
isn't then I need to see my lappy to make sure you haven't installed loads
of junk on it."
Aren't siblings wonderful?
Parents not in the mood to cook tonight so we're off for a Chinese.
Journey home took four and a half hours instead of the usual three and a half because of an accident on the M6. But the detour was kind of interesting.
1Yes, my brother calls me Le Leprechaun.
