Just got back from the first and only JCR1 meeting I've ever been to. See, there is Gossip and Drama at the moment. Some of the executive people of the university student union are proposing a Motion of No Confidence in the current president. Since we have 31 (I think) colleges, each college's JCR gets a vote on the matter. So they called an emergency meeting to see what Catz thinks about the affair.

It was sort of a bit like Rikki Lake - I wouldn't go so far as to say Jerry Springer, as no one actually threw stuff or attempted to attack anyone physically, and it was kept fairly well ordered considering it was quite clear the exec and the president were furious at each other. It does seem like there's been a bit of a communication breakdown. I hadn't realised 10 colleges' JCRs had been wobbling close to considering disaffiliation from the main student union. Which is probably my fault for only reading Varsity when it turns up in the loo!

Still, it was very good of them to get in both sides and let us all know what's going on. I'm not normally interested in student politics, as most of the time it doesn't affect my life greatly (I don't know whether this implies student unions are not actually terribly influential, or just that I live my life in my own little bubble and as long as there is internet, computer and Port all is well). But give me some drama... And the fact that this conceivably could have an effect on stuff, I guess...

Anyway, the vote of the Catz JCR was 20 in favour the motion (i.e. 20 people want to see the president go), 7 against it and no abstentions. As I saw it, there was no way, if the motion failed, that the union would continue in a sensible fashion, as the exec don't trust the president and the president doesn't trust the exec. So the only acceptable solution would be to get rid of one, the other, or both. From the limited view I got in that meeting, I wasn't 100% confident in any of them, but I trusted the president considerably less, and the exec people were claiming they would not resign if the motion failed. So I was in the 20.

Ooh, and I just got an e-mail from the LBGT people - they held an e-vote (a rather poorly structured one "I'd like to hear what you think" - to which I did intend to contribute later tonight after the JCR emergency meeting - but a vote nonetheless) and got scarily similar results - 22 in favour, 5 against and once more no abstentions (how many people e-mail in to something like that to say "I abstain" anyway?!)

So it is perfectly possible that CUSU may be soon lacking a president.

I also feel the need to squee and bounce over my two current favourite pictures!

The first was a commishie that the most lovely [livejournal.com profile] say_aye did for me (which I got to surprise Tux with the other evening) - Lindir and Círdan looking truly beautiful together. Perfect, just as I imagined them, and really really gorgeous and lovely. Lindir/Círdan is a pairing Tux and I have been RPing on and off for aaages now, so we are both rather attached, and it seemed natural to get them a portrait. So...

The Shipwright and the Minstrel - about a PG; clearly m/m but no nudity or tongues )

Amazing, isn't it? I was ecstatic when she showed me the black and white, and then squeeeeeeed and bounced in joy when I got the colour version! (Want one of your own? Pop to Infamous Space and check out her samples and rates!)

And then...on to the other pic! Even while I was deviously plotting in a Lindir/Círdan related manner behind Tux's back, she was deviously plotting something else behind mine! And so last night she presented me with a most DROOLSOME picture of one of my dear original characters, Rávo, whom I love very dearly!

Clicky and worshop the hotness! *slurp* (PG13 - topless male Elf, no wiggly bits!)

And while I'm here - What kind of flogger am I? I think people should be able to guess... )
