Back in Mancunia
30 March 2006 19:53Something I should probably have said in my post yesterday but forgot to: I've given my ethernet cable to my parents and asked them not to return it till the weekend. Thus, I will have several days to break my internet addiction, get some work done, not fail my degree and remember that entity called "life".
I am updating from main house computer downstairs - obviously, e-mails must still be checked, MSN groups must still be posted upon and LJ must be at least scanned to make sure the world hasn't ended. And I have beta-reading that will not be neglected. But I will be taking a few days off 12 hour roleplaying marathons and such life-eating pastimes.
In the meantime, I have been busy! Today I've polished silverware, done work, spent time with guinea pig, been jogging (!! - I'm scarily unfit. But this can be improved), done laundry, booked myself into the opticians for an eye test (though mostly because mum nagged me to). So stuff has happened. I've seen the local heron, perching on a roof next to a satellite dish and somewhat dwarfing the dish! And lots of bumblebees, queens and drones thinking springtime, colony-founding thoughts. The weeding I did back in September was not totally futile - you can still see bare soil in the flowerbeds! I am going to do more weeding this holiday. Ground elder is showing its little green leaves already - I think Bob Flowerdew was saying on Gardeners' Question Time that you can make it go away by pulling all the leaves off it every day for a couple of weeks, so I might try that.
Interestingly, in spite of doing almost no exercise for 2 months, I've lost rather than gained weight (presumably muscle mass...).
Conclusions: I miss Elves, but life is fun.
