Something I should probably have said in my post yesterday but forgot to: I've given my ethernet cable to my parents and asked them not to return it till the weekend. Thus, I will have several days to break my internet addiction, get some work done, not fail my degree and remember that entity called "life".

I am updating from main house computer downstairs - obviously, e-mails must still be checked, MSN groups must still be posted upon and LJ must be at least scanned to make sure the world hasn't ended. And I have beta-reading that will not be neglected. But I will be taking a few days off 12 hour roleplaying marathons and such life-eating pastimes.

In the meantime, I have been busy! Today I've polished silverware, done work, spent time with guinea pig, been jogging (!! - I'm scarily unfit. But this can be improved), done laundry, booked myself into the opticians for an eye test (though mostly because mum nagged me to). So stuff has happened. I've seen the local heron, perching on a roof next to a satellite dish and somewhat dwarfing the dish! And lots of bumblebees, queens and drones thinking springtime, colony-founding thoughts. The weeding I did back in September was not totally futile - you can still see bare soil in the flowerbeds! I am going to do more weeding this holiday. Ground elder is showing its little green leaves already - I think Bob Flowerdew was saying on Gardeners' Question Time that you can make it go away by pulling all the leaves off it every day for a couple of weeks, so I might try that.

Interestingly, in spite of doing almost no exercise for 2 months, I've lost rather than gained weight (presumably muscle mass...).

Conclusions: I miss Elves, but life is fun.

If the world ended I assume you know about it/not know about it to the same degree as everyone else despite your location.

*grins* This would assume that Sale, Cheshire isn't in its own private little continuum... I sometimes suspect it is. Most people who live here have lived here all their life and will never actually leave. It's scary.

I can make them leave! I can make them leave! I can make them leave! I can think of two wats (based around different types of leaving) but both are illegal and immoral.

Twelve hour rps?!!?!! My butt would be numb.
*is impressed*
The most I have ever done is 8 hours, and that was a couple of years ago. I can't rp like that anymore. Having a Wookie takes up too much time.

Yeah, I think lack of Wookie or any other thing requiring immediate attention helps. Basically, I've had days where I get up at 10am or something, and then basically play solidly through till bedtime. Which is an awful lot of fun, but usually gives me a headache. Butt tends not to mind though, cos I never sit still on the chair!

What do you sit on? Or do you stand/lie down/balance precariously on your elbows?

Also - You're awaaaaaaaay! I'm going to miss you! We've only got a bit of time until you finish your degree and probably take a PhD miles away... We should make the most of it.

I shift between sitting normally, sitting cross-legged, sitting on one foot, sitting on the other foot, kneeling, sticking my feet through the footwell of my desk and resting them on my bed at the other side, and sort of sprawling! For some reason, I'm most comfortable when sitting on my foot.

London isn't too far, really! Only an hour on the train (or about 3 on the coach...).
I owe you The Light Fantastic and stuff, so we definitely definitely need to meet up between now and exams!

You seem to be under the impression I'm competent enough to a) Catch a train to London and b) Find my way around London =P And that's assuming my parents would let me go; they probably would, but it's not something I've ever asked of them before.
It'd likely be much easier for you to come visit me here ;)

Didn't you say you were considering a PhD even further than London?
