I have Swiss Francs! I love the Post Office (is it a Freudian slip that I initially typoed that "Port Office"?) for not charging commission and for letting me order small amounts of money rather than insisting I get an enormous amount that I couldn't possibly spend! The other good thing about my trip today was that my debit card seems to have resolved its self-identity issues and has agreed to be Chip & PIN now (it never used to be; I used to have to sign stuff).

Yesterday was less successful; I got to the bank before it opened, so had to waste 10 minutes before I could go in and pay in my cheques - I left the house out early to avoid walking in the allegedly 34°C/93°F (almost unknown in the UK) heat. And when I went into the Post Office I found my holiday money was Special Delivery so wouldn't arrive till 1pm. Since there was no way I was either wasting 3 hours in the dismalness of Sale town centre or walking back there in the hottest part of the day, the money waited till today. And now I have it, so the world is good.

In other good news, I have yummy coffee in Raspberries and Cream, Hazelnut and Cinnamon flavours.

And in still other good news, at the weekend we went to a nursery sale and returned with Salvias, Lobelias, Impatiens (Busy Lizzie) and a Verbena. Very pretty.

Also, I seem to have developed an addiction to those trashy parenting/lifestyle TV shows. You know the ones where a family is at their wits' end trying to control a toddler/9 year old who screams all the time and won't eat anything but chips, and they bring in some smartly dressed female clinical psychologist (or, in one variant, a slightly camp male Scottish "baby psychic", but that's another story...) who gives out some fairly obvious advice about diet, boundaries and communication and within a couple of weeks the kid is pretty much fine, yay? Yeah, now we have Freeview there are about 3 or 4 of those shows on most days. I guess it's the freak show factor that sucks me in...
