End of term-ness
19 December 2007 20:01The undergrads have all cleared out and gone home now, leaving the department in peace and quiet.
I came to the realisation yesterday that I have the house entirely to myself between this Saturday coming, and the following weekend. This should be fun - I'm going to keep it spotlessly clean and immaculate, make sure the heating is off in the empty bedrooms and all the doors are shut, and generally have things MY way. Also need to find out what local curry houses do takeaway delivery on Tuesday evening! Mwahaha!
Stuff is good. I'm still writing a paper. It's amazing what a struggle the last 10% is! I caught a cold off someone - blaming my supervisor - but it never got bad. It's just one of those ones where a tiny residue of cough lingers for a week after. On the plus side, I've found that Abali tea is wonderful for controlling cold symptoms, mwahaha!
I've also finally found a moisturiser that's sorting my fingers out. It's now about a year since I first started to get some sort of contact dermatitis from...some unknown source in the lab. I think it's the paper towels, the water, or both. I can avoid the paper towels, but not the water! In any case, on and off, my fingertips have been going funky and dry and peely and cracking. After trying flatmate's Burt's Bees cuticle cream, which smells divine but doesn't help, E45 with anhydrous lanolin, and now Vaseline Intensive Rescue, the Vaseline cream has shown signs of working! Which I'm very pleased about cos it was getting boring!
I'm vaguely toying with a bunny for a little Christmas fic, but I don't think it would be interesting to more than about 3 people. Hehe. Involves fairies, a certain Elf and tinsel - at least, if I ever get it written. I'm writing almost nothing at the moment - dibbling in the angel fic now and again, and recently posted AIHL on website, AFF and lotrfanfiction.com.
Am officially addicted to House.
