Birthdayness
29 May 2008 21:20Happy Birthday Uli!
I hope you enjoy eating all the goodies you spent all day baking! ;)
Cambridge on Friday was good and happyful. I acquired LOTS OF TEA, and also a new Berber blanket of amazing warmth, so my bed is possibly the warmest place in the universe now, and then we went to the beer festival, where I had beer and cheese. Both of which were immensely yummy. Rubisco agrees about the cheese.
On Saturday I went on an adventure for Polish food as I was assigned to Poland for a friend's Eurovision party, so I got yummy pierogi that flatmate and I had last night, wheeee!
My LJ posts at the moment all seem to be about food... Oh dear.
My uncle has made a new CD, so he sent me a copy to try. Unfortunately he made it on a Mac and my PC refuses to read it, and I can't read it on Linux either. It just keeps showing up as a blank CD. I've tried a couple of programmes that claim to read Mac CDs, and even a programme for retrieving data from heavily scratched CDs, but to no avail. Plays fine on flatmate's iBook - I might have to have him just rip the thing and turn it into a useable format.
I've spent most of this week firmly believing my bee queen was dead, having not seen her since last Friday, but she put in an appearance this afternoon, much to my relief. You can still use colonies when the queen has died, but they get weird and jittery and a bit grumpy and very lazy, so it's a pain. I now have 8 out of the planned 10 bees videoed. I ought to come in over the weekend to get this stuff finished off, but it's a friend's birthday party in Kent somewhere so I really doubt I'll have time. :(
