In the Rankin/Bass version of The Hobbit and ROTK, ladies and gentlement, THIS is King Thranduil of Mirkwood.
All I can say is poor, poor Legolas...

Date: 12 Mar 2006 23:36 (UTC)I'm wondering if Andy Serkis actually may have based his Gollum voice a bit on the one from that cartoon... the way they say "My precious" is scarily similar sometimes.
I rented it again a few years ago to see what scared me so much when I was little. This was after at least one of the LOTR movies had come out, so Elrond made me LOL and Thranduil made me WTF. They were both so weird.

"The Hobbit" cartoon is the best of the lot. The only bone of contention I have with it is the character designs for the Wood-Elves and Elrond; otherwise it's cute.
