Our lawn is currently covered in micro-molehill-volcanoes dug by these cute little orange critters, which are very pretty and make me happy!

We went to TGI Friday for lunch today. Granny was poorly so didn't come, but there was me, parents and brother. I ordered Cajun chicken quesadillas. These are meant to come with rice, but the waiter said they were all out of rice. "OK," I said, "I'll have mozzarella dippers instead."

He thought I meant dippers (a side order) instead of the quesadillas, not instead of the rice! Oops! I suppose it's understandable really. So everyone else's dishes arrived, and so did my dippers - a plate of four dippers (they're about 2 or 3 inches long and maybe an inch wide, I guess). I looked confused. To his credit, he realised something was amiss and we smiled a bit and he apologised and went to sort me some quesadillas.

So, the quesadillas arrive, after a bit. With four more mozzarella dippers. I laughed muchly. I now had 8 mozzarella dippers, plus a dish that was cheese-based in the first place.

It might be said that I am rather cheesed-out! *grins* Also salted out. I forget how salty restaurant food is.

Anyhow, to other business! Today, it is the birthday of three people, one of whom is on my Flist, and two of whom are currently not but probably ought to be! *grins*

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] delaese!! *hugs the Rat*

And also happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] claudi007 and [livejournal.com profile] spacebee, my fellow EUaholics. *grins*

Oooh, mining bees! Sounds neat! We have a sort of GIANT WASP that does the same, but they aren't nearly as friendly. Also, they are GIANT WASPS. :(

You and your bee fascination is kind of like me and my bird fascination. :D Although I don't get to do nifty little experiments with birds (I'm not sure I'd want to; they'd probably bite me). BTW, when you were doing your bee lab, did anyone get stung? Or were they just very nice bees?

Ewww, yeah - giant wasps less sweet! And I don't think mining bees sting either.

Birds are cool. We saw a cormorant (http://www.bto.org/images/research/cormorant.jpg) sitting on a branch sticking out of the lake we visited yesterday, which was rather cool (mum and I were debating if it was a shag or a coromorant, but we decided on a cormorant). American birds are really cool, because they are all so totally new to me - it's like, you have ones that look absolutely amazing, and yet they're common garden birds to you.

(I'm amused - your American blackbirds are less black than our British ones, but your American goldfinches are a lot more gold! *grins*)

We get Cormorants in Docklands and all the way up the Thames to the Pool of London, drying their wings on the bridge piers.

ER, I hope mining bees aren't the same as masonry bees: they can demolish your house!

Oooh, I can believe that - when I was in London back in January and [livejournal.com profile] tuxedo_elf, [livejournal.com profile] luin77 and I took a ferry down the Thames, I was quite certain I saw a cormorant or shag paddling down the Thames among all the choppy waves.

I don't think they are the exact same thing, but they are vaguely related, I think. If they demolish your house that means you've not been taking care of your mortar!!

What is an EUaholic? Someone who spends too much time around/in the EU? Neil Kinock?

Someone who spends too much time playing Elves Unstructured, a cool and fun RPG of much greatness. *grins*

That is 'about as surprising as a not very surprising thing that usually happens at a regular time each day'.
I don't know why I imagined you would make a reference to the EU or know people who might. If you do THAT would surprise me;)

And PS RPGs are very fun if your opponent hasn't developed ERA, Choban or other such armour but I think I am thinking of a different type...

*grins* I think you are. In this one at least, the biggest threats seem to be a fundamentalist German-speaking Elf, an eeevil slave trader and Celeborn's sex drive. :)
