Today has been a really, really nice day.
In the morning, I met up with
arhuaine, who is just as lovely in RL as she is online. We did coffee and went all over the world (well, Manchester!). Highlights included:
Overall, it was a fantastic morning, and
arhuaine is great! :D :D
In the afternoon, I had a riding lesson that was...unusual. We ended up in the "spare" arena, which is not properly drained (oops) and, owing to recent heavy rain, is thus a semi-flooded quagmire. Most of the lesson was spent with the horses up to their fetlocks in mud, and at some points splashing through several inches of water. Dillon thought this was dreadfully exciting, and decided he looked like a horse out of one of those calendars you can buy, all handsome and dashing. He was thoroughly enjoying the canters!
Instructor then let us walk the horses off down the lane, which was actually rather nice as Dillon started to go properly on the bit right as the lesson was ending, so I got to work on that for a bit longer down the lane.
Pizza, House video and then Grey's Anatomy for dinner. Wonderful.
In the morning, I met up with
- Me being airheaded and managing to occupy the same café for about 10 minutes without realising she was sitting just across the room (oops!)
- Fred Aldous, where I bought embossing powder and ink stuff, so I should in theory be able to stamp gold bumblebees on everything now
- New organic/fairtrade/vegan shop, containing many kinds of organic Real Ale, Hemp Beer, fancy tofu and Random Funky Cereal Drink With Figs In.
- Chinatown, in which we admired interesting fish things and noodle things, and bought Pocky of many kinds.
- The other thing I bought from Chinatown: Grass Jelly Drink. This reminded me, scarily, of the Estonian drink Kali (Kvass). Which is nice, as I've been craving it on and off since we went to Estonia! It's very sweet and sort of tastes of toffee apples mixed with unfermented beer and a hint of dandelion and burdock. Oh, and had "prizes" in, as my brother would say - unexpected jelly at the bottom. Which tasted fine, but was a bit surprising when it comes out of a can! Still, I am sure I'll get some more eventually...
