Tuxievisiting!
1 May 2006 01:50Belated Happy Birthday
blue_blue!
Got back from Tux's a couple of hours ago and spent a while being sleeepy.
I had so much fun!
Accident on M11, joy of joys, so coach arrived late and thus departed, avec Eni, even later. We ended up going to London slightly via Stansted rather than right down the M11! In spite of this, we arrived at Victoria 2 hours after leaving Cambridge, so it actually didn't lose us any time! Got to go through Mile End, where I might maybe perhaps be living next year. I realised I'd been there before, when I went with
garryk,
illusive_shelle and
fate_ofthe_free to see Nightwish. So there was a squeeful sense of vague familiarity.
Only got marginally lost when going from Victoria coach station to Victoria train station. Managed to hop on a train to the dismal and eerie Clapham Junction, to switch to another one that went to Tuxie! Then we hugged and bounced and it was all nice. We went for Chai Latte, in honour of
phyncke!
The evening was spent watching movies (yay The Guru!!!!!!!! yay Narnia!!!!!!! - ElurĂn wants to adopt Lucy, mad Elf) and taking Jupiter for a walk, which I seem to find at least as exciting as she does. We also broke open the Port. And drank all of it. YAY! But we spread it over several hours, so remained impressively sober. Oh well... Hee.
Was generally amused by Tuxieparents and also tipsy!tired!Tuxiehubby, who gave me a hug and picked me up. Tall males seem to like picking me up.
Finally got to bed at 3:30am. Hooray!
Woke up the next morning rather thirsty but otherwise nicely bouncy. Chatted and breakfasted, then went with Tuxie and Jupiter to the park, where once again my inner 8 year old emerged and Jupiter and I played "run around madly like a loony". In typical Eni style, my feet shot from under me and I landed on my butt on the grass, which Jupiter seemed to find amusing. *grins* Jupiter is immensely cute and wants to make friends with everyone and everything. *hearts*
We watched Ice Princess, which has very bad Physics and very cute ice skating in. Fellgood! I was then treated to an enormous and delicious Sunday roast, during which I dropped my pork in my wine, oops, and was giggled at, deservedly. Everything tasted fine though!
Coach back was pretty much uneventful - two people decided they felt queasy, making us stop the coach twice in the middle of London, the first one so she could have a walk outside, the second so the spare driver could run into a shop and get her a sickbag to hold. Thankfully, both women chose not to share their stomach contents. I still have nightmares from the days of school trips aged 10, when someone would always be sick and we'd all have to inhale the delicate fragrance for the rest of the trip.
Oh, and there was this cute older American couple sitting in front of me who made me smile. I thought they deserved a mention as Americans do get a lot of bad press when they go abroad, and I wanted to make a point that there are nice stories involving American tourists too! They loved the English countryside, commenting they'd never seen it as green as this before, and cooed over the thatched cottages in Trumpington, which are absolutely gorgeous! They had a younger guy with them, also American and presumably someone who had lived in Cambridge a while, and three of them talked about bicycles and colleges and things, and they were just altogether sweet. So yay them! :D
Got home, was sleeeeepy! But happy, because Tuxie is fantastic and I had lots of fun!
