I am back!

Journey home went fine, stopped off in Durham for a look around, which was a fantastic idea. Durham botanic gardens are absolutely divine.

Many good things have happened. It was a really nice trip, and having the time with my mum was wonderful - we got along fine, the company was great and it was a nice, relaxed holiday all in all. We walked SO much. Feet rather tired. We'll be very fit. Also ate too much as restaurant food has that effect.

I got thrown off a 13hh pony. Oops.

Also got my paws on a first edition Storm Constantine Wraeththu book, go me. And two by Louise Cooper. Great stuff.

And I bought a whole load of honey, including heather honey on the comb. Mmmmm.

Can't hang around to say more right now, though, as we're making dinner.

Thanks! I certainly did - as mum has been saying too, it's just been nice to have a holiday with no pressures and no "grand plan"! We just did what we wanted - if we saw a sign saying, "Temple of Mithras" (which we did!!) and thought it looked interesting, right then and there we decided to go and look! :D

If you ask me, those are the best kind of vacations! :)

How was the Temple of Mithras? It sounds so interesting!

It was rather sweet. It lies on Hadrian's Wall - apparently Mithras was a Persian god of light that the Romans borrowed, and they got themselves a little temple to Mithras about halfway between Carlisle and Newcastle. It's in the middle of a field and largely a ruin, but in beautiful countryside. Haven't uploaded my photos yet, but here's (http://www.patrick.samphire.btinternet.co.uk/images/brocolitia3.jpg) one off the internet - the carvings and things are reproductions, as the original pillars and things are kept safe in a museum!

We thought the name sounded rather Elvish altogether, so HAD to look!

Hey Eni! I'm Lori who plays Aredhel in EU. I'm so sorry I ran off while we were chatting. Somebody came to the door, and I couldn't get back to the computer for about 15 minutes. I had no idea I would be gone that long.

Oooh. You found a Wraeththu book? Lucky you! I've been haunting the used bookstores looking under the C authors ever since Jai told me about those books. No luck so far, though. :(

Do you mind if I friend your journal?

Heh! How come I never realised you had an LJ?! *facepalm at self* Squeee that you do! *bounces*

Of course you can friend me, you're awesome. *grins and runs to add you back*

Hehe, here was actually another Wraeththu book in the store, but it was the 14th so I didn't see the point in getting it yet. I'll probably trawl Amazon for the others in the series.

(And don't worry about last night - I just came over all tired and realised I really should get to bed! :) )
