*goes around like sleepwalker*
Well, tha was unpleasant.
I deliberately chose to go to bed late-ish last night, knowing that I'd be mildly sleep deprived in the morning but being so very sick of turning in just after midnight that I needed a late night or I'd explode. So I went to bed just before 2am.
At 3am, there was a large amount of noise outside. Turns out two of my flatmates went out, and one of them got absolutely revoltingly drunk on a mixture of vodka, whisky and beer. *EWWW* Fortunately, I locked my bedroom door that night, so he didn't accidentally stumble into my room and puke on me.
At 4am, there was a fire alarm. I think someone on the ground floor was daft and left the oven on too long. No damage, no smoke. Just a very warm room.
Close up, firemen smell like charred meat.
Then I waited at the door of the flat to let flatmates back in; one had been so tied up getting the drunk one to evacuate that she hadn't brought her keys. And while I was at it, I changed the shower room lightbulb. And washed my feet, as I'd evacuated barefoot.
It's really worrying when you live on the top floor in a block of flats, and are still the first one out of the door when there's a fire alarm at 4am. I don't know what everyone else was taught, but I was taught that when there's a fire alarm, you evacuate immediately, and me grabbing a dressing gown and keys before going out is pretty extravagant IMO.
At 8am, I got up to get ready for work; lab meeting at 9. How I will cope with code today I do not know.
