Hmmm. Things of note today:
1. Quantitative Biology assessed practical. I don't really understand a great deal of what we're doing at the moment, so I literally just followed the instructions on the sheet with only the vaguest idea of what I was actually doing, and made up the bits where I looked at the question and thought, "Huh?" I finished in about 40 minutes, which means I've done either extremely well or extremely badly. I'm really not overly concerned which, which just goes to show how knackered I am now, I guess. The lecturer doesn't seem to know what he's talking about, and my supervisor just says: "Will you pleez read zees book, and alzo I recommend zat you buy zees book." (Which was £50, so I'm thinking, no)
2. Primary Master Hard Disk Failure of my computer. So I went through the usual affair of opening the case, prodding all the wires, checking for loose connections, then experimentally rebooting. It now appears to be working, and it's even let me have my Nellas wallpaper!
3. My printer finally proved that 3 pick-up rollers are not as good as the 4 it should have, by almost ruining the high-resolution leaf picture I was trying to print out on photo-quality paper. Grrrrrrrr.
4. Poster competition - I stick our poster up in about 20 minutes. The actual event starts at 6:15pm, so we'll see how it goes. We've added some deliberately controversial theories just to get the Scientist People to pay us more attnetion. Hopefully.
We popped down to our fave gay pub last night for some wine, a break, and some smooching. They'd put candles on the tables, those little tea-light things, so naturally
girlofthemirror and I got all pyromaniac and started burning till receipts and stuff. Then she dropped her bit into the wax, where it caught fire so there was quite a big flame coming out of the tea-light, but it was OK cos once the paper had burned, it would have gone out. But the lesbians next to us were obviously jealous of the supreme gorgeousness and cuteness of my gf, cos they said, "Can we be a bit more mature about that please?"
So
girlofthemirror, being the nice, helpful person that she is, blew it out. The trouble was, the tea-light then when flip-flop across the floor in an enormous puff of smoke, and made a bit of a stink. Then the nasty lesbians called us, "Fucking Idiots," which wasn't nice at all, and was quite uncalled-for if you ask me. So we kissed and huggled and things and thought they were silly and ugly and nasty, which they were, so boo and ner to them.
