Potato pancakes
18 October 2006 21:48Have been reading LJ, but have been even more negligent in commenting than usual. Am definitely alive, just a bit zombiefied by this whole 9-5 thing, or in most cases, 9:30 till just after 5 plus extra reading at home. Not used to this whole working thing!
Anyway, today I had moments of inspiration whilst trying to avoid code and planned out some PhD ideas, and have booked supervisor for meeting tomorrow. He asked me to take over his contribution to tomorrow's lab meeting, so I guess it's a fair deal if your logic is a bit warped. Hehe. Lab meeting at 9am, d00m.
Next week Rufus Johnstone from Cambridge is coming to give a seminar. Coolness.
There was a fire drill early this morning not too long before my alarm was meant to go off. A drill this time, as opposed to an idiot ignoring the rules. Also, our hot water has died again. Will phone the reception place on the other side of campus to report it after dinner as I don't want a cold shower, waaaah. I wish they were sensible enough to have maintenance-by-e-mail.
Last night we saw The Devil Wears Prada. Was OK but sort of scary how shallow, bitchy and generally unpleasant so many of the characters were. I spent most of it wanting to hit Miranda. Scary woman. Also, I am SO glad to be me and not them, because I get to eat big piles of potato pancakes and they don't.
Yeah, I had potato pancakes this evening. It seems that my ability to cook potato pancakes is completely absent, so they come out looking like nothing known to man, but they taste OK, especially with cheese.
Eurgh, tired. I think tonight might be an 11:30pm bedtime so I'm actually conscious enough tomorrow morning to fit in a shower before lab meeting, since hot water is so not coming back on tonight...
ETA: HOT WATER BACK! Hooray!
