Well, today was eventful.
In the morning, I received an invitation to dinner from an old friend of my dad's, which should be lovely. I think he has a daughter a little younger than I am. I also e-mailed my cool supervisor from last year, as he e-mailed me late last night just as I was off to bed (he's in Australia now so it was his morning).
Around lunchtime, my current supervisor e-mailed me a stack of stuff to do with the second paper to come out of our Cambridge project. So I ran to lunch right there and then, suspecting that dealing with it would keep me exclusively busy all afternoon.
Was I right or was I right? Got out of the lab at 1805.
Luckily I got a decent lunch back home and found TWO shinies in my mailbox. The first was from Cafepress, a Wraeththu Thiede T-shirt I ordered - very exciting. It's incredibly prettiful. The other was from Miss
menegroth, a portrait of me as an Elf! It's soooo cute. I may have to frame it. I may also have to scan it in and make me a new LJ icon! THANK YOU!
There were some minor disasters in the very busy afternoon, involving flawed experimental design and some disagreement between current supervisor here in London and old supervisor in Oz. This may result in some altercations between them. Or it may not. Either way, it will all be by e-mails I don't get to read, so won't affect me except peripherally. I think it should all work out OK.
Situation with regard to fridges in flat grows more complicated. We're writing a letter about it now.
Tea is good.
I need to do that thankful meme, but I'm now 7 days behind so I might have to cut a long list of thankfulness!
