My supervisor is interested in doing some research with wasps.

I'm interested in doing some research with wasps.

Looks like there will be research. With wasps.

Now you all think I'm even madder, don't you? :D

In other news: FOREYULE!

I will thusly be in Cambridge on Saturday, and leaving on Sunday morning (or around lunchtime, perhaps).

Do CTS people want me to arrive at Secret Venue early and help out with food preparations? I am also able to bring nibbles, if that's helpful - I seem to remember last year had lots of healthy salad stuff, but I predict some bags of Sensations or similar might go down well too.

Since I will basically write off all of Saturday (although I might drop in to visit Abner on the way there) I am essentially a CTS dogsbody from the moment I arrive in Cambridge.

Will I regret saying that? :D

Something about working late on Mondays always seems to leave me hyper...

Aaaw, why do you always come to Cambridge when I'm busy?

It's my birthday party on the Saturday.

What KIND of wasps?

They make me cry and go all wibbley when they sting me...

*sniff*

Probably Vespula vulgaris, the common British wasp. That species is not really aggressive - at least, not if you don't wave your arms around, flail and scream. I've never been stung, and I've attempted to train one in my bedroom, watched them on flowers, observed them demolishing the leftovers on my dinner plate...

And then there was this time one had come in through the window and I was on wasp removal duty, so I caught it in a glass, but since I didn't have a piece of card hand to trap it in the glass, I trapped it in the glass against my stomach, and it didn't even occur to me that this carried a possible sting risk. So I don't think it's any more risky than working with bumblebees. Probably less so, as I have a feeling the sting venom may be less potentially-allergenic.

The fun thing is that no one else in the lab has really done stuff with wasps, so I'll probably end up largely self-taught. *grins* *cackles*

Sonic is the person to ask. I think it's all under control but some of us are likely to hang around the house in the afternoon for help and moral support.

Will be good to see you.

Yes, thanks for the offer but it all *should* be fine. (Though CD is on call in case of problems!) Have fun in Cambridge, see you for the feast!

I dreamed of you last night!

I got a call from Gandalf that I need to destroy the One Ring, but you said No! That was the end of the dream. :D

Aah, but that is because I NEED the One Ring for my Master Plan, oh yes!
