CAMBRIDGE!
24 November 2006 18:17As my LJ has already hinted, I will be in Cambridge tomorrow. Owing to en-route plans involving visiting Abner, I'll probably get into Cambridge around 3pm, therefore won't have ever so much time for people-seeing before I meet the walking party to Foreyule. Walking party sounds nice and it'll be good to see
muflet again! I will, however, be potentially bookable if you drop me a note and suggest a location.
*hugs
cartesiandaemon* Once again, thanks for the bed. Will be lovely to meet up with you!
Meeting with supervisor today. Things good. He told me not to give up on an experiment I wanted to do - I'd got a bit wary after realising a different version of the same thing has been done already, but the other researcher's setup is less ecologically relevant so it's a good idea for me to carry on and do some bee stuff.
Wasp stuff also looks promising though there may be issues if I want to work inside.
Database stuff...progresses. I tried the Java to set cookies and stuff today. It didn't work terribly well, by which I mean not at all, but the errors were not insurmountable. I think. I'm feeling a bit bogged down for now but that may be because it's been dragging on a while now and I'd like to have more news for supervisor than, "It still doesn't work. But it fails to work less badly than it used to now." I think he understands that I have been working hard on it and making progress, albeit slowly, and has offered me the get-out that if I get sick of it I can shelve it for a while and do some real experiments. I might take him up on the offer if it looks like it won't be done before Christmas. But I did explain to him that I've been doing stuff on the side. I mean, I have read over 100 papers.
Also, it's the Enimum's birthday today and for once I didn't entirely forget!
