Simple pleasures
29 November 2006 19:35I seem to think I've been tagged at least twice for this, so here goes...
Name ten of life's simple pleasures that you like most, then pick ten people to do the same. Try to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used.
1. This isn't at all original, but is probably the single biggest pleasure in my life: Lie-ins. Those things are more precious than gold dust.
2. On the same note, being able to stay up till 2am or later without worrying about being tired tomorrow.
3. Walking around the streets of Cambridge on a winter's evening when the Christmas lights are on and you're wearing a thick coat and scarf.
4. Greek yoghurt and honey.
5. E-mails from the Enimum. They always make me smile.
6. Bumping into an old friend unexpectedly.
7. When my flatmate comes in and the first thing she says is, "I'm so excited!" - this always leads to an amusing, happyful conversation.
8. When you're anticipating Tube delays, but actually everything runs smoothly and you get home early!
9. Sitting in a field in summer with long grass all around you so you're completely hidden, a notebook on one side for writing, and a slice of chocolate cake on the other, the sun on your hair and birdsong as background noise.
10. Wearing one of my favourite T-shirts and my favourite hoodie. Mmmmbliss.
Not tagging anyone, cos I'm guessing everyone who will has done it already!
My lappy bag arrived yesterday, which was good. Lab cleaning session today went well - lab now clean and nice. I even got a filing cabinet to keep my papers in.
I have about 35 practical scripts from yesterday to mark. I'm trying not to add commas in red... Mostly they're OK. Some are truly terrible. Some are very good.

Except the only thing I can think of is "You can go outside in the summer? Seriously!?" My view of things is quite skewed, living in Floriduh and all, but I thought summer sucked everywhere. XD

Date: 3 Dec 2006 10:48 (UTC)Although London is a LOT less rainy than Manchester or Cambridge, from my experience so far.
I have this feeling that a UK summer is not that much warmer than a Floridian winter...

Date: 22 Dec 2006 05:00 (UTC)Wowww... I'm not a big fan of rain, but it would be nice to have such lovely summers.
I'm currently all bummed because it's very, very warm lately. Sometimes we get lucky and it may be a little chilly on Christmas. The only time it's ever really cold is in January-February. Still, I was wishing for a cold Christmas... alas. It's been in the low eighties. It should be illegal to play the song "White Christmas!" It's so depressing, LOL.
