I was wasting some time on http://www.eeggs.com/ and found this:

1.) Open an empty Notepad file. (Just in regular Notepad.)
2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
3.) Save it with any file name with as .TXT file.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

In other news, I totally pwned door guy. It's a good feeling as now our building is safe and secure and nasty people can't get in.

Um...I must have done something wrong. What is the notepad thing supposed to do?

Ah..found it. Have to save it with ANSI encoding instead of UTF-8.

Oh, OK! Mine worked with whatever my default option was.

It's meant to do little ASCII boxes, right? Or did I do it wrong?

does the webpage explain how it works? because it's certainly...ironic.

I think it's just a little bit of code added by one of the programmers for a laugh, same as the hidden flight simulator in Excel and things like that.

Oh, and just out of curiosity, I copy-pasted the text into a blank Word document and a blank e-mail window. It seems that Notepad has converted the text into Chinese characters or something.

I got the kanji. This is because I have Japanese encoding installed on my computer. I don't think this is really an easter egg, it works with all sorts of strings.
