Quickie update
20 August 2007 00:06Saturday was absolutely hectic - I got up, went on a spider foray and took photos of spiders, bees and other things of greatness. There were AWESOME wasp spiders. Will post photos later. :D Then went home, had scrambled eggs, and headed into Central London for essential shopping. Got a new wallet, (hurrah!) and travellers' cheques, DEET, rehydration sachets just in case I pick up anything whilst travelling, etc. etc. I ended up walking a lot - Central London makes me so energeic and Fleet Street is incredibly pretty. I walked from Blackfriars to nearly Westminster, then poddled up towards Piccadilly Circus, then poddled onwards to Tottenham Court Road before heading home. Via Bethnal Green for essentially shopping, so I walked back from here.
Oh, and then I had time for a cup of tea and an e-mail check before heading back out for a birthday dinner celebration somewhere not as near to Old Street as I'd expected. So there was more walking. Then there was wine, pizza and tiramisu. And then we decided to go to a pub in Shoreditch, so walked over there. And then we decided to walk back to Liverpool Street Station to get the tube home, so walked back to there.
My feet didn't seem to mind this nearly as much as I would have expected.
Today has been calmer but still pretty productive. Slept from 1am till 11:45am - BLISS! Then got up, and did three hours' work, sorted a pile of papers in my bedroom in preparation for Packing of Doom, talked to mum (we have a moving date, HUZZAH!!!!!!!), and did laundry.
Tomorrow I need to be at Kew for 10am. Eep!
Where's my Kew intern ID card...? *starts searching*

But YAY for an energetic and fun day out! :-)
There were AWESOME wasp spiders.
You know, I doubt anybody around here would believe me that I have friends who write sentences like that! :-D (Apart from a biologist I know who's specialised in spiders, but he'd be the only one).
I love your enthusiasm. Reading your posts is always like my laptop was jumping up and down. :)

Date: 21 Aug 2007 08:15 (UTC)And heh...well, they're so colourful and pretty, and such elegant predators. The first one we saw managed to wrap up a grasshopper, even though the grasshopper, with its huge legs, was trying pretty hard to kick free.
I'm glad I sound enthusiastic! First thing in the morning I think I need reminding that I can be enthusiastic! I hope the enthusiasm survives the next month or so, which is going to be absolutely insane...
