So, Metronet employeers are threatening to go on strike on the day I get back from SA.
I am rather less than thrilled about this, and considering what the best B-plan is if this goes ahead. I am quite tempted to either a) take the Piccadilly line (not run by Metronet) to Hyde Park corner, walk to Victoria coach station and hop on the 010 National Express, which goes almost past my door; b) pick up the number 11 bus instead to Liverpool Street, then change to the 25 home; c) Piccadilly line to Green Park, Jubilee line to Stratford, and then get the 25 bus from there.
Does anyone more TFL-savvy than me have any alternative ideas?
I got called in for emergency invigilating today - some sort of admin error seems to have resulted in one of the invigilators not knowing she was scheduled for that slot. Since there must ALWAYS be at least one invigilator in the room, which means at least two need to be generally on duty (in case someone causes trouble, needs the loo or feels ill, etc.), a replacement was needed. Good thing I chose that moment to get myself some coffee and so was just in front of the reception desk! Well, it's easy money, so no complaints!
There's a really cool looking one-day conference in late September. I think I'll go to it but I'm not going to worry my poor brain about it right now! Got some excellent speakers, and is in London so dead easy to get to. Yays. Living in London is fantastic - it's the venue of choice for so many smallish conferences and seminars so I can go to them almost at whim. *grins*

Date: 24 Aug 2007 10:47 (UTC)Enises can't even cross roads on foot without getting squashed by cars...I'd dread to think what I'd be like on London roads with my non-existent bicycling skills!
Also could be a bit tricky when I'm carrying a ginormous backpack, and a mini suitcase on wheels containing a laptop and optic fibres, among other things ;)
