I am clearly a soft-hearted, silly, daft and sentimental Eni. As it turned out, there was only one little boy left, and he had a home to go to. It was the girls who were in need of homes. So I agreed to take two. They're TINY! Rubisco is seriously three times the size.

They seem to like their new cage, having monkey nuts and apple twigs to chew, and have already given their seal of approval to alfalfa and broccoli. *grins*

Quinine is the boss, and periodically beats Sucrose up to make sure everyone knows it. (Not viciously, just enough to make Sucrose squeal a bit and act submissive again.)

Some piccies...

A couple of Quinine. I chose her, when she sank her teeth into me.

And one of Sucrose. She chose me, by coming over and sniffing me in a cute and curious fashion.

Also, here's one of Rubisco. She's a bit upset about having intruders and was being a total drama queen last night (and has been sulking today too). I'm trying to bribe her with cheese, with mixed success... She'll settle once she's realised they're not coming in her cage and I still love her, I'm sure.

That's all for now. More when flatmate doesn't want to borrow my printer!

Is Sucrose bigger than Quinine? She looks it, in the pictures. And they are cute. Too bad Miss Mocha, and Masters Pippin and Omalley would rate them on...taste...

Sucrose is a tiny bit bigger. There isn't really much in it, though - I think it's mostly the zoom I was using in the different photos. When I get an opportunity to photograph them both together, I'll post it for comparison!

Will you ever be able to put them in the same cage? (all three, that is?)

Oh, I certainly don't plan to! They're totally different species, and Syrian hamsters hate company. Rubisco is already scent-marking every bit of her cage to make sure they don't come in (not that I intend to give them the chance). I suspect if they were put together Rubisco would kill and eat the little ones.

...so do the names mean that you are planning to feed them to the bees?

*giggles* I wasn't planning that, no...

But Sucrose is sweet, and Quinine seems kind of bitter!

Well Rubisco looks all like: WTF is going on here. Who are those intruders?

But the two are cute. All white with a bit of silver and grey. Are their eyes blue or is it just the light?

LOL That photo of Rubisco was actually taken a couple of weeks ago, but she's been exhibiting similar expressions a lot recently. Anyone who thinks hamsters are incapable of exhibiting disgust has clearly never met her!

It must be just the light - they both have dark brown eyes. They luckily have different facial markings so I can tell them apart even on the basis of a nose sticking out of the house!

I'm kind of amused at having ended up with three grey-and-white hamsters!

Awww, they're so little and cute. Though I do love Rubisco - such a WTF expression *g*.

*grins* It had to be something geeky. :D

And yep! Nigel e-mailed us all first thing this morning in case we were interested. I wish I was as efficient at tagging bees as he is... :)
