I have bought myself a treadmill.

See, it's been a while since I've really done exercise properly, but when I'm in an exercise mood I usually like to go jogging. Trouble is, by the time I get home from work, it's dark at this time of year, and it's cold outside, and often wet, and East London has quite a lot of dodgy bits and there wouldn't be many routes that didn't take me through them once I got semi-fit. So I thought...why not go jogging in the comfort of my own home, whilst watching a DVD and sipping tea?

Excellent, thought I. How much is a treadmill?

I found the cheapest one Amazon do (£45 or so plus about £30 delivery) and ordered it. It arrived today.

Its name is Theresa. Flatmate and I assembled it, and I tested it out, burning (apparently) 26 calories in the process. And warming myself up so nicely I turned my radiator down. It's win-win-win all round.

Hamsters gave us ever such funny looks! But now I can feel part of their hobby - fruitless running on a moving surface without going anywhere. We can be treadmill buddies! Woohoo!

Now wire it to something useful and use it as an energy source. Good practice for the circle line walk.

It would be kind of cool to have it hooked up to a dynamo! And yes, definitely good for my fitness generally, I hope. Just like the hamsters, I'm hopping on, running for a bit, hopping off, then bouncing back on a while later.

We have a treadmill too! It sits in the living room and it's a great place to stack stuff on and hang stuff off of, LOL!

We bought it for $900. at Sears about, oh, 5 years ago. No one has used it in over a year. D'oh! Just call us couch potatoes.

*grins* It did occur to me that unless I discipline myself it could easily end up as an extra wardrobe or similar. I'm trying very hard to keep it clear!

And yes...I figure if I stop using it, I'll sell it off on eBay for £20 or something!

Oh, cool. Let us know how it goes. That does sound convenient, I didn't realise they'd got so cheap.

And double points for the giant hamster factor.

Treadmills are awesome. I run/walk while watching "Designed to Sell" on my TV, regardless of the weather. Enjoy yours!
