New prescription
26 April 2008 15:41My new prescription:
Left eye: -2.50, astigmatism 0.25
Right eye: -1.75, astigmatism0.25zero...just rechecked...
In other words, quite a bit worse than I expected - means my left lens has been a full diopter too weak.
New lenses ready on Wednesday - they don't need to take my frames away from me, so I can just wander in on Wednesday morning and have them fitted into the old frames on the spot. I let them con me into those fancy glare-reducing lenses since working under the bee light array does cause a lot of glare and I don't like it (which is why I end up ditching my glasses for so many things that don't need distance vision).
In other news, my new computer keyboard has arrived and it's exactly the same as the old one, only not broken. And it is GORGEOUSLY SUNNY. T-shirt weather! Spring has arrived! :D :D :D

Date: 26 Apr 2008 19:27 (UTC)We should set up some kind of prescription contest. LOL. Highest (or lowest) number wins! (Of course, I'm fairly certain that I'll win...I'm nearly blind!)
Also assuming the numbers they use are uniform across country boundaries...I think they are though..
But here's what you'd all be up against...
Left eye: -5.75 (an improvement from -6.00 a year ago)
Right eye: -4.75 (an improvement from -5.00 a year ago)
The improvement was a combination of things, the contacs I have 'breathe' more so more oxygen gets to my eye, and aging...we all get more farsighted as we age. I don't know about the astigmatism, I know I have a slight one in my right eye, just can't remember what it is.
And gorgeously sunny? Lucky you. It's rainy/snowy/windy/cold here. 4C ....urgh

Date: 26 Apr 2008 19:59 (UTC)Still...I know of at least one LJ user on my Flist who can top that... *grins*
I don't have any illusions that I'll be winning any contests for prescription! My flatmate is extremely short-sighted, to the point where when he's in the shower he says it's all just a vague white-and-blue blur. Which provides him with the perfect excuse for never cleaning the bathroom: "I hadn't noticed it was dirty."
I'm generally really nosy about other people's prescriptions. Same as I love trying on other people's glasses to see how they compare! Impressive was finding that two of my friends are almost an exact match for my prescription (which came in useful when one had forgotten his glasses and we were watching a lunar eclipse - I let him borrow mine and he was able to marvel at the red moon with the rest of us!).

Date: 26 Apr 2008 22:59 (UTC)Extended wear contacts sound pretty cool. My brother has them too, I believe. I haven't considered contacts yet since I tend to take off my glasses unless I need distance vision, but in a few years' time, who knows?

Date: 27 Apr 2008 13:40 (UTC)Left: -6.50/astigmatism -1.25
Right: -6.25/astigmatism -1.75
That's pretty bad, isn't it? :/
