Does anyone know any good recipes to use up bananas for people who absolutely can't stand the taste, smell or texture of bananas?

But it will taste as bananas...

*nods* That's kind of the worry. I've come across certain breads and cakes that have managed to hide the taste very well so they just taste sweet and fruity, but I'm not sure what recipes will do that reliably!

(We have an enormous excess of bananas at the moment, and it's one of the few things I can't easily use up in cooking/crumble because it grosses me out!)

I don't have recipes, as I like bananas fresh, but there are those cakes I buy because they taste like bananas...

I found this, but it's in Spanish:

Smoothies?
If you put in strongly-flavoured berries like blackberries etc (tis the season) then it is less bannana-y.

My favourite getting rid of accidental bannanas goes:
1) Pick up bannanas.
2) Give to the nearest vegan.
3) Go home and eat an apple.

I was going to suggest something very similar, only involving less apples and more ice-cream :-)

I LOVE apple crumble. Though generally with custard... *made awesome apple crumble at the weekend* (We had an excess of apples.)

Mmm, bananananananana. Try mixing them in with pineapple juice in smoothies, or doing banana and 'other fruit' fritters.

Fritters sounds like a possibility if I bung in lots of flavoursome stuff too...

I wonder if you could add them to a strong chocolate cake? They can cover flavours quite well.

Google-fu:

^This is a beetroot cake that is really nice, which you could adapt, maybe? You ca't taste the beetroot strongly, but it is very strong dark flavour if you used bannanas.

^ A cake wot uses bannanas. Could be adapted?

Hmm...chocolate cake could work. Especially if I made it nice and intensely chocolatey! I could bring it in for 5th Floor Cake Day...

I have been known to make foods from things I don't want and give them away. You get generosity points, and rid of the unwanted item.
